A couple’s massage is in a private room on side-by-side massage tables with two therapists who work on each individual at the same time.
What to expect when having a Couple’s massage
- Before the massage, I ask you about any injuries or other conditions relevant. Things you would want tell a therapist include areas of tightness or pain, allergies, and conditions like pregnancy. You can also tell them if you have a preference for light or firm pressure. It’s best not to get a massage if you are ill.
- After the consultation, I will instruct you on how to lie on the table and underneath the towel. You usually start by lying face down with your head in a u-shaped face cradle so your spine stays neutral. Then I will leave the room for a short time and will ask if you are ready before re-entering.
- During a massage you are generally encouraged to dress down to your comfort level. I will uncover only the part of the body being worked on, a technique called draping. It is common for people to leave their underwear on.
All therapists have their own style and techniques. If the pressure is too light or too firm, speak up and ask me to adjust it. This is your massage and I want you to be comfortable.
Couple’s massage is a great way for women to introduce their significant other to the benefits of massage therapy. Many people who are unfamiliar with massage are reluctant to try it, but can be convinced if they don’t have to do it alone. Both massages will end at the same pre-appointed time. I will let you know the session has ended, leave the room while you dress, and then greet you at the door with fresh water.
If this is your partner’s first time at a spa, be patient and guide them into a treatment they will be comfortable with — does he/she really like massage aromatherapy?
Surprise is great for some partners but it may be better to explain the process ahead of time to avoid any awkwardness as well as give them an opportunity to participate in planning the day. It’s more important for both of you to be comfortable so you can enjoy the experience. It also shows your partner that you are comfortable sharing your personal space and feel completely relaxed in their presence.
After having a relaxing Couple’s massage it’s a wonderful time to connect and take care of yourselves. ENJOY the time you have had together to just relax and unwind from the every day stresses you both encounter.
Even though its called “Couple’s Massage” it does not necessarily need to be with your partner. You could come along and enjoy this experience with a friend or family member. Great idea for a ‘Girl’s pamper experience’ or a birthday treat for your mother or girlfriends. It has become more popular for mothers and daughters to have some quality time together having this type of massage. Maybe you’re a mum who wants to have a spa day with your own kids instead of your mother. If your kids are teenagers, it’s possible.
So why not try one out for Yourself?? Book here today and have a relaxing couple’s massage. You know you Knead too.
