Does Massage Therapy work?
Personally, I believe this to be true.
There is some evidence that the stretching and rubbing of the soft tissue, releasing tension in the muscles, can reduce stiffness and ease pain in joints.
Most importantly it is all down to touch. Massage also causes Physiological changes in your body through ‘Relaxation Response‘. This is the Response of the nervous system to massage techniques and touch. Also there are ‘Mechanical Responses’ which are the physical effects that occur in the body when pressure is applied to the soft tissue. Together these responses can produce physical and emotional benefits.
